Rumor Mill: Salah to Juventus?
Juventus might be on the verge of a historic transfer that could be the second biggest of all time sending Liverpool star Mohamed Salah to Juventus. Salah is having an amazing champions league with co-leading the league in goals with 17. Salah could team up with the already amazing Christian Ronaldo. Those two would be an incredible super duo that could be a force that no goalie would want to see. Adding Salah would give Juventus a huge advantage in Champions league and Seria A. Also with the recent singing of recently acquired Aaron Ramsey from Arsenal those trio would make for an amazing team. The move Juventus would cost them around 318 million euros. Ronaldo has given the green light to pursue Salah for Juventus which they hope Ronaldo will do some of his own attempt to persuade Salah. Salah scored 45 goals last season and leading Liverpool to a Champions league final. If the singing were to happen it would be after this season during the summer. Do you think Juventus should make this transfer to acquire Mohamed Salah?

Personally, no I don't think Juventus should make the transfer. Juventus has won 7 Scudetto's in a row and they do not need any more unbelievable players. He may make money, but Salah is getting a lot of media coverage at Liverpool and it is also very interesting to see him play for Liverpool since he was on Chelsea in the past. Obviously Juventus should do whatever they can to win the Champions League but I am very biased since AC Milan is my favorite team and we don't need anymore competition in the league than we already have. Maybe Salah should come to Milan. - Zach Cimring
ReplyDeleteHi Zach, I can see where you're coming from since Juventus is already such a great team, so it might be pointless to add another superstar. If they win Champions League then I don't think they should get him.
DeleteI agree that this potential transfer would make Juventus a power house and give them a huge advantage in Champions League. I also think this move puts them in a "win now" mode considering the vast amounts of cash they will be paying their squad. Ultimately, if they are able to win major tournaments with this team then the move would be worth it.

DeleteHi Jeff, I agree with your statement I think they already have great players they're in a win now mode. If they were to get Salah that would be a huge deal and possibly worth it.
DeleteI think this would be a great move for Juventus under two circumstances, the first being if Ronaldo is okay with it. It would be a shame to see Juventus spend as much money as they did on Ronaldo, only to upset him and bring in another superstar forward. The second thing I think they should consider is if they actually can pay for it. Someone mentioned in class that they read that Juventus may need to change their ownership structure because of how much money they spent on Ronaldo. To me, that doesn't say they're financially stable enough to make another large purchase. Ultimately, I think that if Juventus can pull it off, they should. Putting pieces around Ronaldo to make a run at the Champions League is the smartest thing to do.- Aidan Hall
ReplyDeleteHi Aidan, yes I agree that since it has become Ronaldo's team you definitely want to make sure it's okay so you don't hit heads. Also, yes I don't know too much about their financial situations, but if they can pull it off I think they should too.
DeleteIn my opinion, Juventus needs to be careful here. There is a fine line between having good players and ruining the league by creating a super team. We have seen this consistently in American sports: the New York Yankees are the richest team in the MLB and already have Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton, but are making a push for another big-time player, Manny Machado. This has caused a lot of backlash from fans and the league and many would tell you the Yankees are the most hated team in the league because they do not "home grow" their players, but rather poach them from other teams with their cash.

DeleteIn my opinion, Juventus should be all in - now. I believe that when you have a generational talent in Ronaldo, you always look to "win now"... If that means breaking the bank for someone you usually would not like to acquire - you do it. If that means doing something that many think is a bad move - you don't listen to everyone else - you go out and do it. Pairing up Ronaldo with someone like Salah is a powerful play that could lead to many wins and hopefully championships to follow.

Hi William, Yes I agree with you that these super teams are starting to ruin the sport. I love the NBA and the Golden State Warriors make it not even fun to watch especially after their signing of Demarcus Cousins. I think Juventus should go out, and compete and see how the season goes.
DeleteHi Andrew, Yes I agree with you that Juventus should be all in now. I think the duo of Salah and Ronaldo could be an unstoppable scoring machine that Juventus should do the trade.
DeleteJuventus would become the new Real if they bought out Salah. The new super team of the European League. This would obviously be a great move for them if they actually did it, but I feel like it would be slowly ruining the league similar to what is happening in the NBA in the United States. When Kevin Durant joined the Warriors and 3 All-Stars, many considered that to ruin the NBA. This would not be a good move for European soccer.

Hi Dean, Yes I agree if Juventus were to acquire Salah then they would be a team that will be able to match up with anyone. I think whether Juventus does this or not they would still be a great team with or without Salah. I would rather not have them ruin the European soccer leagues.
DeleteIn my opinion, Juventus should not make this transfer for Salah. It certainly has the potential to make their team amazing, but there has been plenty of times where so called "Super Teams" do not end up playing well together and their goals are not reached. In addition, I understand Juventus has goals to win Champions League as soon as possible, but I think there are better ways to do that rather than spending an estimated 318 million euros. That is an absurd amount of money and I think that money could be better spent perhaps beefing up their academy to make it one of the best in the world, because as we learned in class, it is far cheaper to "grow" your players than to buy them outright. In my opinion, this transfer would give Juventus a lot of potential, but nothing is guaranteed besides the ridiculous amount of money that they would spend on it which is why I believe they should not execute it.

Hi Bill, yes I agree that adding Salah would definitely make Juventus a super team. I like your point where 318 million is so much they could spend that money elsewhere to make a more complete team. Growing their academy and growing their players would be really cool to see if Juventus could do that.
DeleteI think this would be a very good move for Juventus. $381 million is a lot of money but I think that it would be a wise investment in the long run. It seems that the combination of Salah and Ronaldo would be very good for Juventus in more than just financial terms. Seeing the two together would do very well for the team and especially for the fans as it would be happening during the Champions League and would most likely very much help the team to succeed. I think Juventus should do it.
ReplyDelete- Gabriella Mauro
Hi Gabriella, I agree that the combination would work very well with them both being terrific goal scorers. Like I said earlier I think the only way that this transfer would be worth it is if they win champions league.
DeleteObviously if you have the means to acquire a fantastic player like Salah you go all out and try and get him, adding him to the already lethal Ronaldo as well as Ramsey would make Juventus an even tougher opponent. The only drawback I would have to say is that if signing Salah causes you to take sacrifices in our other players salaries or the ability to acquire more top tier talent in the future then is it worth it to possibly mess with the chemistry of an already stellar team?
ReplyDelete-Mike Hirschmann
Hi Michael, yes I agree adding Salah with Ronaldo and Ramsey would make for an unbelievable team. I would love to see that happen, and see how far they could take Juventus. Yes, it would also be interesting to see if they could distribute that money elsewhere to make a more complete team.
