Aaron Ramsey Joins Juventus... Could this be a Positive New Chapter?

On February 11, Arsenal midfielder, Aaron Ramsey, announces his signing to Juventus starting this summer 2019. Aaron Ramsey is in the final 6 months of his contract with Arsenal, so now he eligible to sign with another team. Aaron Ramsey has been with club Arsenal since he was a teenager and has won 4 FA cups with the club, naturally this was both an impactful and emotional farewell for Aaron Ramsey and the fans of Arsenal. Aaron Ramsey wrote a heartfelt farewell post on Instagram after a long 11 year career with club Arsenal thanking the fans and the club for their love and support, but now it is time for a new chapter in Aaron Ramsey's career. Though there has not been an official wage posted for his contract signing, sources say that Ramsey will be making a reasonable sum of €7,000,000 and bonuses a year over a 4-year contract with Juventus. He will be joining Juventus on July 1, but promises to finish out his career with arsenal strong for these last few months. Aaron Ramsey's playing time has been cutting shorter in the past couple seasons with Arsenal.... Will this be a beneficial singing not only for Juventus, but for Aaron Ramsey as well?

  1. Very interesting point here made that Aaron Ramsey is leaving to head to Juventus from Arsenal. It is interesting that he is choosing to leave for more money than stay with the team he loves. In the United States we see the best players in different leagues choose to take less money in order to stay in an area they love to be in. Is this addition of Aaron Ramsey tagging up with Ronaldo a sign that Juventus is ready to take the next step or does it mean that Juventus is becoming a destination for players that existing their careers. It is always sad to see players leave a team that they've performed so well for and had were with for an extended amount of time. Do you know if it common for players to end their careers signing a one day contract so that the player retires as a player for his favorite team?

    1. Hi Stu, I too thought it was interesting that Aaron Ramsey is leaving the team he loves for more money. But I also think you need to consider his future. Juventus is definitely a prominant club the world of footbal especially with the recent singing of Christiano Ranaldo, Aaron Ramsey is probably thinking what is best for the next chapter of his career...he is not getting any younger. As for your question, I have not heard of a player signing a one day contract and I am not sure it is possible, but I would definitely read into that more.

  2. In terms of your retirement question, Andrew, I know David Beckham retired at PSG. If it was the case that players retired at their favorite clubs, he would've for sure retired at Man U. I think Ramsey is an amazing player and have always valued his quality. Though he's older now, I think a move to AC Milan or Juventus would be good. He's play at the highest level before going into retirement.

  3. Interesting article about Ramsey's decision to leave Arsenal for Juventus. After spending his whole career with Arsenal, it must of been a hard decision to leave for another club. I think sometimes in sports a change of scenery can be good for a player in hopes of rejuvenating his career. Ramsey is a solid player and I believe this will be a beneficial move for both him and Juventus based on their position in competing for the Champions League.

    1. Hi Jeff, I was just as interested as you were to hear about this transfer. Aaron Ramsey is a talented player, but he is not getting any younger and he has to think about the future of his career and unfortunately Arsenal was not the place for him to be right now, but who knows what the future holds. It was defenitely a hard decision for him, but I think he made the right one. Now that Juventus has Christiano Ranaldo, I too think Aaron Ramsey will make a nice addition to the team.

  4. Interesting article! I think Ramsey has given Arsenal everything over the years so he deserves to go play somewhere else. I think that Juventus is a very interesting team as of now since there have been a lot of rumors of other players going there as well. As Ramsey's playing time is being cut, he could be looking at this as an opportunity to stay relevant. -Aidan Hall

  5. Honestly I think this a wise career move for Ramsey. He's made himself a name at Arsenal and has had an amazing career but just like many other great players, sometimes you just need a change. He also would be joining a fantastic player, Cristiano Ronaldo, so who knows the team chemistry that can become of this. I am excited to see Juventus future, what do you think?
