Will Singing Martin Caceres for a Third Time, Have a Positive Influence on Juventus?

In recent news, Juventus has confirmed the signing on the loan of, thirty-one-year-old, Martin Caceres. Caceres will be on loan from the Series A rivals Lazio. This singing will make this Caceres’s third attempt with Juventus during his career. He had played for the team in the 2009-10 season while he was on loan from Barcelona and then again in 2012. Juventus will be paying Caceres €600,000 to have signed until June 30th. This was a noteworthy pickup for Juventus, having won 4 Series A titles and being a skilled center, makes him an attractive player to many clubs. Having only appeared in 4 league games with Lazio FC this season will Caceres make the impact at Juventus that Bianconeri is looking for?

  1. Love the post Bada! Do not know anything about the player but 600,000 Euro sounds like a lot of money to pay so this guy must be great. How much do you think Messi would go for if he was traded?

    1. Hi Sarah! Thanks for the comment. Personally, I do not think Messi would really ever be traded anytime soon, but if he did I would assume he would be traded for around 200,000,000 euro. Considering he is the best player in the world right now and debatably the greatest player of all time. What do you think would be a reasonable trade for Messi?

    2. If I had to personally pay for it he would go for a whopping 30$. (That is all I have to my name right now) But I would agree 200,000,000 euro seems like a fair amount for Messi. I would have to agree with the people who claim he is the best player in the world right now. With his endorsement deals and amazing reputation I think he will be remembered.

  2. Wow Alex, this post was actually pretty interesting! I am surprised they decided to shell out that kind of money for a 31-year old but I assume they must think he has some more gas in the tank. Having only played in a handful of games this season I am interested to see how he will fit into Juventus' play style. Do you think he will be able to adjust to way they player more easily having already played for them in the past?
Anyway great post, Really enjoyed it!

    1. Hi Mike, that is a very good question. I think that the transition for Caceres wont be a difficult one, but I do not think they he will have the biggest influence on Juventus. I feel like this trade was more to fill the Juventus bench then to find a starter whom will get a lot of playing time. He is getting to be old and it does seem that Juventus sees something Cecares that others do not. Lets see how this plays out for the club.

  3. I have always loved Caceres. He wears his pants so low when he plays and I used to play like that. No I do not think he will make that much of an impact at juventus but I do think he is a solid player that can play. In my opinion, Caceres is better than Liecesteiner, and will definitely make more of an impact than him. - Zach Cimring

    1. Hi Zach, I definitely agree with your opinion on Caceres. I as well think he is a solid player but I also believe that his prime years are behind him unfortunatly. Also like you said and I agree with is that he is not going to make a noticable impact on the club's performance, but nonetheless I believe this transfer was a good one.

  4. I also like Caceres but I think he's a little out of his prime. I think he will have a minimal impact with Juventus but will provide them with depth and experience. And this is all depending on whether or not he can stay healthy and on the field. We will see the results here in the next couple of months.

    1. Hi Jeff, I agree with what you are saying. I too believe that Caceres is out of his prime, but will hopefully provide more of a teacher aspect to the team and maybe guide the younger players. I am eager to see how this will play out and I hope he stays healthy.

  5. I think this is a smart move for Juventus. Some might say that it is over spending for a 31 year old, but I would have to disagree. There is no price too high when you are looking to sign a trustworthy veteran player, who is going to bring no surprises. Juventus is having a great season and the front office is smart to not try and bring a young risky player that could mess things up.

    1. Hi Caity, you make a very interesting point that I had not considered. I agree with what you are saying completely. Caceres is a veteran player and Juventus is porbably looking for someone that they know and that has had a positive influence in the past for the club. I think that this transfer can end up being a smart move for Juventus due to Caceres years of experience and familiiarity with the club.

  6. I absolutely love the move here. Yes, breaking the bank for a 31 year old at times may not pay off - but this is a very special occasion. Juventus is in a "win now" mindset, and is looking to add veteran players with big game experience. Playing young future stars helps their development, but in situations like this - you're looking to make the team the best it could possibly be. Adding Caceres would make them that much more of a contender.

    1. Hi Andrew, I too loved the move here. I think that Juventus was looking for more a player with experience and like you said is a veteran than someone who is younger, but could be harmful to the team's current dynamic. I also agree that Juventus did somehwat breake the bank for Caceres, but hopefully this transfer works out for them and Caceres's experience can better help the team.

  7. Personally, I think this is a smart move by Juventus. 600,000 euros might seem like a substantial amount of money for an older player who may be out of his prime, but if he was to somehow help Juventus go far in Champions League, this investment could pay for itself ten-fold. I don't know a substantial amount about soccer, but knowing sports in general, it never hurts to have a veteran come onto the team. Especially one that has been on Juventus in the past and knows their style of play. Overall, I think this is a small price to pay for the potential winnings they could receive if Juventus makes it far in Champions League.

    1. Hi Bill, I too thought this was a smart transfer for Juventus. Though Caceras may not be in his prime anymore I too think what he lives in youth he makes up for in experience. This could a beneficial addition to Juventus both on and off the feild. I also think this will give the oppurtunity for Caceras to relay on his wisdom from his career to the younger guys on the team.

  8. I personally don’t think that Caceres will have that much of an impact on Juventus right away. However, since they are paying 600,000 euros which seams like a lot must mean that Caceres is a good, consistent player and will make a good asset to the team in the long run.

  9. Looking at this situation, I don't think Caceres will have a major impact, but he might have a bigger impact than some might think. Caceres is on the downslope of his career as he gets older, but he can still serve as a valuable role player in clutch situations and also provide veteran leadership in the locker room. He can also serve as a sidepiece to Ronaldo, who Juventus has recently acquired. I like the moves Juventus is making, placing other good and experienced players around Ronaldo. -William Brooks
